Jackie Roberts grew up on the shores of Lake Erie and is excited to launch her on-air career in Erie. She spent a year working behind the scenes for Time Warner Cable News in Buffalo, New York, before joining JET 24 and FOX 66.
Roberts is a proud St. Bonaventure University graduate. That’s where she developed her eye for news and curiosity for people. In college, she served as the news director and then station manager at the school’s nationally ranked radio station, WSBU The Buzz. She was also an active member of the student-run news station as a reporter, anchor, and producer.
During her senior year, she filmed, wrote and produced a documentary on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, encouraging corporate sponsorships and donors.
Roberts went on to win the Bob Koop Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism and was the runner-up for the Mark Hellinger Award, the highest award in St. Bonavenure’s journalism and mass communication school.
She owes a lot of her success to the Buffalo Broadcasters Association Mentor Program and the newsmen and women who showed her the ropes.
Outside of the newsroom, she is an avid dog lover who’s always up for a day on the lake.
