Good Kid: Natalie Franke 8/19/13

Eleven-year-old Natalie Franke is a big believer in community service, so she spent the weekend volunteering in the kids zone at Celebrate Erie.
One young girl from Centerville says she has so much to celebrate in her life. She wants to share her good fortune with other kids.
She's tonight's Good Kid.

Eleven-year-old Natalie Franke is the USA National Miss PA State Ambassador.
She is a big believer in community service, so she spent the weekend volunteering in the kids zone at Celebrate Erie.

Lynda Franke, Natalie's mom, said: "It's a chance for her to get out into the community and work on her people skills, and I think that'll take her far as she gets bigger."

Natalie says she loves pitching in.

Natalie Franke, 11-years-old, said: "Because there's not as many who are as fortunate as me, and there are so many different things you can do."

And because of her attitude and dedication to helping others, Natalie received not one, but 2 titles this year.

Lynda Franke, "She's the ambassador and the state role model, and she was named the state role model because of all the volunteer work she's done to this point. Once that happened, we just volunteered even more in the community."

And it turns out the giving spirit is contagious.

Lynda Franke, "I love that she's volunteering. It's actually gotten me out into the community too and her brother out doing things, and some of her cousins and friends come out and do stuff with us too."

Natalie says she's really excited about the competition being right here in Erie this year too.

Natalie, "Oh yeah I'm competing in it, so hopefully I'll go to nationals but I'd be fine with getting role model again because that means so much more than my state title."
