Bayhawks Encourage Inclusion of Kids with Disabilities

- November 11, 2014 - The Erie Bayhawks are hoping to help children understand the importance of including their peers with disabilities. It's part of a program from The Arc of Pennsylvania called Include Me From the Start.

Shooting guard for the Bayhawks Drew Crawford was at Lincoln Elementary School in Erie to read a story about Mikayla Resh a now 19-year-old woman with significant disabilities.

When Mikayla was younger her third grade friends wrote a book about accepting her as she is, a lesson educators hope will stick with students.

The program is currently in the Erie, Millcreek and Harbor Creek School Districts.
