Arrest Made In Country Fair Robbery

- There were some tense moments this morning for some Country Fair customers as an armed robber holds up the convenience store.

Just after 6 o'clock this morning police rushed to the Country Fair at 810 East Avenue for reports of an armed robbery.

Erie Police Chief Randy Bowers says the gunman held the firearm to the back of a customers head and demanded everyone to get on the floor.

Chief Bowers says the customer tried to fight back and that's when the suspect fled on foot.

Surveillance pictures led Erie Police to issue an arrest warrant for 28 year old Anthony Ford.

He was arrested around 1:30 this afternoon.

Ford faces several charges including attempted robbery, simple assault and making terroristic threats.

The actions by the customer gave police a better picture of Ford but Chief Bowers doesn't recommend trying to fend off an armed robber.

It was the second time this week that a Country Fair store was robbed at gun point.

Chief Bowers says it's possible the two robberies could be connected.
