July, 28, 2014- Erie Police now know the two boys who were rescued from a stone jetty last week were with the 17-year-old Bhutanese boy who drowned.

Prem Thapa's, 17, body was found near the mouth of Cascade Creek Saturday morning.

According to police, the coroner called them to investigate because it appeared the body had been in the water for 24 to 36 hours.

Because there were no signs of physical trauma or injury, they went through missing person reports to determine if he had been missing.

Detective Sgt. Julie Kemling says after talking to the four teens again, they determined Thapa was with the others before they were rescued.

“First responders had two things working against them, obviously the language barrier, and also fear factor,” said Kemling. “The kids were worried about getting in trouble, so they'd didn't indicate there was another individual with them."

Thapa was a student at East High School where school officials say there will be support available through Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
