Erie County Fair Kicks Off Week of Fun

The Wattsburg Erie County Fair is more than 100 years old, but people are still coming out in flocks for their fair favorites.

“We really enjoy the animals going and being able to touch them, and the cows, and she got to ride the pony and she was digging that,” says Cheri Niles of Wattsburg.

From kids rides and games, to animals and clowns, this week's fair is jam packed with family fun.
Events include a tractor pull, performances from Buffo the World’s Strongest Clown, a driving stunt show and fireworks on Thursday night.

Modnay night featured the fair's kick off event, the Queens Pageant.

For some guests, going to the fair is a family affair.

"Came with my mom and dad, so just come with my kids now,” says Ralph Burlingham of Wattsburg.

Organizers say the fair is a great event to bring the whole family.

"There's kids out there that have never seen animals you know. And everybody should come out and have a sausage sandwich ya know, gotta have that,” says Junior Hartman, President of the Erie County Fair.

There's a lot to do at the Erie County Fair but almost everyone's favorite part? The food.

Sausage sandwiches, deep fried dough and french fries, all important parts of a fair diet.

And Hartman says, another reason to go to the fair, "It's what a fair is all about, Everyone goes to get a sausage sandwich!"

The fair runs through Saturday night.
