Roosevelt Middle School is using an early warning system to prevent drop outs, a program Pennsylvania's first lady stopped in Erie to learn more about.

Susan Corbett was welcomed at Roosevelt by students with big dreams who shared their goals with the first lady.

She offered advice to them, to keep an open mind moving forward through school.

The first lady's initiative, “Opening Doors” is ongoing at Roosevelt its one of three school districts in the state participating.

The program tracks progress in english and math, attendance and behavior.

If a student lacks in any of those areas research shows they're likely to drop out in high school.

This program is geared at increasing the graduation rate from high school.

Mrs. Corbett also heard about the Erie School District's initiatives to keep students engaged and on track to graduate.
