The program originally was designed to be for the children of migrant farm workers, but with Erie’s burgeoning immigrant population, it has expanded.
The program is in partnership between the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit and the Erie City School District, and it lasts for five weeks
During these first two weeks, the kids are at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center learning literacy, math, technology, and getting to explore all that the TREC has to offer.
Officials from the IU said they wish this federally funded program could help out more kids.
