50 fourth year students will provide affordable dental services for under-served patients - all under the watchful eyes of LECOM professors and staff -- for 48 weeks.
LECOM's school of dental medicine is based in Florida, so these fifty students will be coming to Erie and making it their home, and adding to our economy.
School officials expect the students to contribute roughly $28,000 a year to the local economy: do the math, and that's $1.4 million.
60 local workers are part of the construction process, and 30 to 40 workers will be hired once the clinic opens.
LECOM officials tell us this clinic is one-of-a-kind and of great need here in Erie.
The clinic is predicted to be open by May 2015.
