Local Biker Dies of Injuries Following Thursday Night Crash

July 18, 2014- A local biker has died of injuries following a motorcycle crash late Thursday evening.

66-year-old biker William Stablein Sr of Erie died this afternoon at UPMC Hamot. Stablein was critically injured Thursday night when an SUV crashed into his motorcycle at the intersection of East 38th Street and Lake Pleasant Road.

Erie Police say Stablein was traveling east on East 38th Street when 67-year-old Patrick Bucceri who was driving an SUV turned into the path of Stablein's bike.
Bucceri was not injured. No charges have been filed in this crash. The investigation is ongoing.
