A new ordinance in Meadville could put that city at odds with Crawford County government over fines to discourage blighted property. The new ordinance would apply to the former talon property on Arch Street. The Talon Building was acquired by Crawford County as part of a plan to have more space for Crawford County offices. The new law states windows and doors cannot be boarded or empty.
According to a count made by the Meadville Tribune, The Talon building has 80 empty spaces. When the new ordinance goes into effect in July, penalties could be as high as three hundred dollars per missing window per day.
