Thanks to the generosity of a Massachusetts non-profit and the Petco Foundation, Lilo, the Meadville City Police Department's K-9 will be a lot safer out on patrol.

Lilo now has a bullet and stab protective vest.

The non-profit "Vested Interest In K-9s" was the beneficiary of the Petco Foundation's "Helping Heroes" campaign.

That campaign raised enough money to supply a K-9 vest for Lilo and 14 other K-9 units around the US.

Each vest cost $950.00 dollars.

Vested Interest in K-9s has provided more than 930 law enforcement dogs with these vests since 2009
