After at least four years of planning Develop Erie decided to halt the rail terminal project proposed for Harborcreek. Their decision came in May after many opponents spoke out against the 60 million dollar project being built in their own backyard.
PennDOT Deputy Secretary Toby Fauver says projects like this in Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh have been beneficial to the respective cities. Proponents of the rail project argue that if you invest in infrastructure you invest in the community’s .economy and make businesses more competitive.
