It may be a bumpy ride for some drivers this weekend. This as Penndot begins work on a Summit Township road construction project. A major improvement project on Route 19 began tonight.

The construction work coincides with some motorists Fourth of July travel plans, Michelle Morrison of Harborcreek said "I think the timing is terrible really this is a travel weekend. I don't know what they're thinking!" but Karen Lunger who Lives near the construction said "Ii think they just have to get the job done... I really think we just have to put up with the traffic and congestion to progress."

Route 19 will close from Townhall Road to Dorn Road. Construction runs from 7 am with crews working around the clock and it is expected to wrap up by 6 a.m. Monday.

Employees at Porreco Nissan will be able to enjoy the holiday weekend with their families as road crews overhaul the highway.

PennDOT officials say this project has been in the public's best interest, and that the timing is right.
