A local girl is giving back to the community in a big way.

Six-year-old Naylyn Plaza is a first grader at Erie Rise Leadership Academy.

She wanted to make a difference, so she decided to create "Yay Day."

Plaza along with her family collected dozens and dozens of clothes, toys and household products for those in need.

She donated the items to the Red Cross today as part of her "Yay Day" celebration.

Plaza tells us she plans to make every April 11th "Yay Day"  and get even more donations.
