Steely Dan Takes over Presque Isle

- Nearly 4,000 people gathered at Beach 11 on Presque Isle to listen to Steely Dan. But for one couple, it wasn’t just about the band.

"Will you marry me? Are you kidding? Of course I’ll marry you!"

That was the exchange between Randy Parkinson and Laura Levander, of Edinboro.

The event called, “Best Summer Night,” rang true for them with a surprise engagement after 10 years together.

Parkinson and Levander were two of thousands at Presque Isle to listen to jazz rock band, Steely Dan.

“Best Summer Night” is one of Presque Isle Partnership’s biggest fundraisers.

This year’s ticket sales will go to restore the Presque Isle Lighthouse.

And while guests came to enjoy the sounds, it wasn’t just about the music.

"You gotta love Presque Isle. Gotta love it. It's precious here. This is the most beautiful state park ever. it really is,” said Terri Venmar of Butler.

The Partnership’s 2012 concert event raised $140,000 for improvements around Perry Monument.

Parkinson and Levander have not set a wedding date yet!
