Construction is underway on the West 38th Street Bridge over Interstate 79. The bridge will be closed through late August as crews work to rehabilitate it.

The project will cost around 800 thousand dollars. Construction has also prompted the closure of West 38th Street from Pittsburgh Avenue east to Schaper Avenue.

PennDOT officials say concrete and bridge deck will be replaced and new sidewalks will be built.

Traffic will detour using Peach Street, Route 20 and Zuck Road.
