Construction on the West 38th Street bridge is complete and traffic is passing over it for the first time in almost two months, traffic had been rerouted most of the summer.

The project began July 7th and closed traffic on West 38th street from Pittsburgh avenue.. East to Schaper Avenue.

The bridge work was done because its cement had started to decay. The goal of this summer's construction was to prevent bigger problems down the road.

Engineers used a hydro-demolition method to create a smoother surface. The bridge was scheduled to reopen on August 28th but it was delayed until today.
