The Women’s Equality Day Rally featured a group dressed as suffragettes, as they walked from City Hall to honor the women who fought for their right to vote.
This event was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Erie County.
Event organizers say that honoring the women who fought for their rights is still important even after almost 100 years.
"After a lot of hardship and a lot of pain on the part of women over a hundred years actually, to get this right, that we celebrate them and we then make a decision that we're going to not have had them suffer in vain,” said Rita Cappello, event organizer.
At least 13,000 women in Erie County are not registered to vote.
