June 14, 2013 - A local artist is in the process of creating a giant Perry 200 mural to be displayed in downtown
It all began in January of this year when the Perry 200 commission chose Michael Hinman to create a mural that would take us back in history.
Art supplies, paint and tape cover the basement floor at the Jefferson Educational Society.
Artist Michael Hinman is the man behind the 25-foot-tall by 50-foot-wide mural.
The mural will be displayed in between 11th and 12th streets on
Hinman went to school at
"It's really an excellent opportunity to put something as a permanent fixture in the community for any artist," said Hinman. "It's pretty much an indescribable feeling, a great opportunity."
The mural is expected to go up at the end of June or beginning of July.
