Teachers often tell us they were inspired to become educators because of a great teacher from the past.
This week's Golden Apple award winner is one of those great teachers who is inspiring others to teach.
Here at the Millcreek Learning Center, alternative education comes to life thanks to teachers like Joe Marsili.
He's clearly making a difference in the lives of his students.
Joe Marsili, Golden Apple award winner, says: "You come to school every day ... I guess it sticks."

It did for McKenzie Wilcox. In her nomination letter she wrote: "Often times people mistake the students at the Millcreek Learning Center for bad people because it is an alternative education school. But he makes each and every one of us feel like we are important. He inspires his students to follow their dreams and never let anyone stop them."

McKenzie Wilcox, student nominator, says: "When I have a rough day ... he deserves this." And thanks to Mr M., McKenzie is pursuing her dreams. Mckenzie continures, "I want to be a special ed teacher."

Congratulation to Mr. Joe Marsili, this week's Jet 24, Edinboro University Golden Apple Award winner. If there's a special teacher you feel deserves a Golden Apple Award, nominate them at the contest page on
