12 more students face charges in Piazza hazing death

Twelve new Penn State fraternity brothers, including another Erie man, are facing charges after new video evidence surfaces in the hazing death of Timothy Piazza.

Joshua Kurczewski, a 2016 Cathedral Prep. graduate, is facing charges including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.  New charges were announced against the former Penn State fraternity brothers in connection with video footage from the night of pledge Tim Piazza's death, showing the fraternity brothers serving Piazza 18 alcoholic drinks in an hour and 20 minutes before he fell down a flight of steps. The defendants could face up to 5 years or more behind bars depending on the judge's ruling.  Defense Attorney Erick Hackwelder says, "the court could add here you have a college kid that no one helped him that could certainly be circumstances a judge could consider".

Also included in the case are Parker Yochim of Waterford and Joe Sala of Erie.
