$140 million in tax increases to fill PA's budget

The Pennsylvania budget impasse takes a possible step forward.

By a vote of 102 to 88, the House passed a bill last night that would raise $1.5 billion by borrowing against the state's share of a 1998 tobacco settlement.  Another $140 million is expected to be raised by a variety of tax increases.  The state is in its fourth month of not having a balanced budget.

Both Governor Tom Wolf and Senate GOP Leaders will now review the House proposal.
