SAEGERTOWN, Pa. -- A massive layoff is coming to the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown.
Employees of the center have been told that due to a declining number of residents at the home, up to 81 employees may be furloughed – about 20 percent of the center's workforce.
According to county officials, the Care Center has been losing $60,000 a month due to the declining bed count.
Of those laid off workers, 35 will be immediately recalled to work new shifts. The others could come back as the center's census improves.
The layoffs will affect all areas of the center's operation including nursing, assistants, housekeeping, maintenance, clerical and administration.
