Enjoying a day on the water on a boat isn't just for boat owners, anyone can take a ride aboard the Lady Kate.
Lake Erie and Presque Isle Bay are both beautiful sites, but experiencing the water on a boat is an entirely different experience. Manager of Presque Isle Boat Tours, Janis Guthrie, explains, "We go past Beach 11 and Sea Gull Point and all the beaches up to Presque Isle Lighthouse and back to see the wildlife, fishermen, different boats, and sometimes, ships going out. [We also see the] Niagara when it is in town, and the city side of Erie, also."
The 14 mile, 90 minute long cruise leaves the dock by Perry Monument several times daily. "We run seven days a week, five cruises a day, 11:00, 1:00, 3:00, 4:00, and the 'Sunset Cruise,'" says Guthrie.
Each cruise is hosted by tour guides who identify and describe points of interest and information about the area's ecology, history, development, nature and more.
Guthrie says "it's always a beautiful day on the water," just make sure to dress for the weather! "Whatever the weather is like we do recommend bringing a sweatshirt or blanket with you, sometimes it is cooler on the water especially the Sunet Cruise, it gets chilly.
The cost is $16 for adults, $9 for children 12 and under. Reservations are not required, but recommended.
