An unlikely source helps combat opioid addiction...

The opioid crisis in this country is out of control.  President Donald Trump is expected to declare the crisis a national emergency.

More than 2 million people are addicted to opioids and now a chiropractic company is stepping in to help fight the crisis.  Those numbers are staggering... think about it:  2 million people in the US addicted to opioids.

The Salvation Army sees a lot of addiction come through their rehabilitation centers and now there will be a little more funding to help in the fight.

Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centers see first-hand how this addiction is affecting men and women who come through their doors.  Healthsource Chiropractic and Salvation Army have teamed up to help in this fight against opioid addiction.  Dr. Chris Tomshack, CEO of Healthsource Chiropractic, is using his company to help fight the opioid addiction.

There are more than 300 Healthsource clinics across the US; each one of those stepping up to the plate.   Tomshack tells us they "reduced the fee for the initial exam to 20 dollars. That 20 dollars is donated as a whole to the salvation army specifically to fight the opioid epidemic we're currently experiencing."

The money will be used at the 139 Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centers across the nation to help fund its drug rehabilitation programs.  "That's going to help meet the need with this crisis and again bring our level of care to a new level," says Tomshack.

And, the doctor would like to see others involved in the fight.  "I'd like to throw out a challenge to other business owners: if we have a thousand companies, a 10k or 100k, in this country are doing something. Now we've taken 300k and multiplied it many fold, so we provide money to these centers who desperately need it".

The Healthsource Chiropractic program runs through the end of the year.  This $20 initial examination fee is for all the Healthsource Chiropractic clinics and all Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centers nationwide.  Healthsource has more than 300 offices in the nation.  Salvation Army operates more than 139 rehabilitation centers, so all the rehab centers will benefit from the donations from Healthsource.
