A new coffee house opens up in downtown Erie today after months of anticipation. Ember and Forge, at the corner of East 4th and State streets opened its doors at 7am with a steady line continuing most of the day.
Owner Hannah Kirby came to Erie to attend Gannon University and says she fell in love with the city. Kirby has been working on this coffee shop dream for the past two years and, despite being just over a block away from Starbucks, she doesn't see it as competition.
Kirby says, "I do think there is a lot of room in Erie before you start talking about competition. I think they are two very different types of spaces, two very different types of coffees and I am happy to share the block and a half".
Ember and Forge will be open seven days a week.
