Kids were ready to kick off a new year this morning in the Millcreek School District.
Some students in the region still have a few days of summer vacation, students in the Millcreek School District headed to the classrooms today.
Millcreek School Superintendent Bill Hall and Tracy Principal, Jerimia Bull, were greeting students Thursday morning as they got off the bus for their first day of school. Jennifer Amatangelo dropped off her three kids, Cameron, Matthew, and Cody. This is Cody's first day of kindergarten. Cameron is looking forward to getting back to homework, despite what his brother says. "You like homework? What did you say? He's a liar, you do not. I love homework.
Hall says he's excited about the start to the new year, a year he says will see changes and challenges. One of the big changes is a major overhaul of the bus routes that have not been updated for more than 20 years. "All of the routes have been looked at... they have been audited, we're looking to get more efficient, something we've been doing for a couple years. We try to be more efficient and save money at the same time."
But, there are some kinnks to be worked out. Hall says, "The issue is the new routes. We had to at least get them in before we could start making changes to them. So, I've been preaching patience and asking for patience."
So, Millcreek parents, remember busses might be running a few minutes behind. Like the Superintendent says, please be patient, and watch your speed in those school zones. Three points added to your license besides the hefty fine that goes with it.
