ERIE, Pa. -- The snowfall overnight and into Monday made the morning commute a little tougher. But crews have been working around the clock to make sure the roads are clear.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the city of Erie and other township crews work to make sure roads are safe for travel, but other plowing companies work to make sure driveways and private parking lots are free of snow.
Plow companies were doing what they could to make sure people were able out of their house and where they needed to go on Monday.
"Snow plowing the driveway, shoveling the walk, salting the sidewalks -- whatever they need done," SKS Snow Plowing owner Scott Kosack said.
Kosack said not only do they plow residential areas, but also help make it easier to grab a quick bite to eat.
"Mainly all the burger kings, KFCs, a lot of commercial properties, Iroquois School District … we do some work for the local companies and stuff,” Kosack said.
Kosack said this December is busier than other years and said usually it's not until January or February that business picks up.
Boss Landscaping also does commercial and residential plowing, and they also said this year is off to a better start than last year.
"It's nice to know that people can get out of their house, get to work, get their groceries at the store, get gas,” Corey Bernat, owner of Boss Landscaping, said.
According to the Action News team of meteorologists, the snow is done for now. But this is just the start of a long winter season.
