'Caregiver' arrested for alleged abuse

An Erie woman is accused of assaulting and strangulating another woman in her care.

26 year old Qunisha Manus is charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, intimidating and many others counts after police say a woman with cerebral palsy was taken to Saint Vincent Hospital with bruises to her head, neck, arms, and legs.

Manus was a caregiver for the victim, employed by Voices for Independence.

The victim is non-verbal and confined to a wheelchair.  She communicated to police that she was struck several times by Manus and that she also unplugged her electronic hospital bed, wrapping the cord around her neck.

Manus was placed in the Erie County Prison on $300,000 bond.
