Central Tech seniors get chance to say 'goodbye'

171 seniors become Central Tech's graduating class

ERIE, Pa. -- Central Career and Technical School graduated its last class Wednesday.

The commencement ceremony was held at the Bayfront Convention Center with more than 170 seniors.

It was the last graduation before the Erie School District consolidates Central Tech with Strong Vincent and East high schools.

Central Tech seniors had a week of classes remaining before the fire on May 26.

Wednesday, the Class of 2017 finally got their chance to reunite and say goodbye.

"We didn't get to say goodbye to each other, hug each other. We didn't get to say goodbye to the younger classes we had friends in. None of it," said graduate Lida Mitchell.

"It's sad that it's the last Central Tech Falcons, but it's nothing we can do about it,” said graduate Abigail Cochran. “I'm glad to be here with everyone--that we're all graduating together."

Central Tech will become the home of the Erie High School Royals this fall.
