Coast Guard calls off search

A search is called off by the US Coast Guard after a witness reports two people went missing on Lake Erie.

According to the Coast Guard, the two were last seen on an inflatable raft about 500 yards offshore of North Kingsville, Ohio, late Monday.  One person on the raft reportedly jumped into the water and tried swimming the raft to shore; both went missing a short time later.

The coast guard sent out a 25-foot response boat and helicopters were flown in from Detroit to assist.

Coast Guard crews suspended the search at 9:30 this morning with no correlating missing person reports.
