Defendants granted extension in fraud case

ERIE, Pa. -- Defendants in a federal fraud case have been granted an extension to file pretrial motions in U.S. District Court.

Rick Weaver Buick GMC Inc., owner Adam Weaver, Doug Grooms and Adam Coover have until March 30 to file a motion -- in which they are expected to fight the evidence and charges brought against them by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

All of the defendants have pleaded not guilty on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. According to the federal government, these car dealers allegedly defrauded loan providers by using straw purchasers to buy vehicles and then finance them for more than their actual value.
