Do you know teens who love to read? This could be the program for them...

Local teens are being encouraged to read more books.  The Blasco Library is accepting members for the teen reading lounge.

Teens participate in an award-winning, interactive book club while hearing from speakers and expanding their skill sets.  The club is run by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council with more than one thousand members across the state.  Organizers say this is the fourth year for the program in Erie, but they'll be able to do more this year thanks to a community outreach grant.

Tammy Blount, Teen Services Librarian, tells us, "We're able to give books to the participants. So, they choose what books we're gonna read. They design the program and then they get to keep the books."

Any teen can call or email the library to get involved.  The first official meeting will be February 15th.
