Dozen of Butterflies Released in Educational Program

About 50 monarch butterflies were released today as part of an educational program at Goodell Gardens in Edinboro.

Visitors learned about the butterflies, their life cycle and migration patterns. Aquariums were set up to display the different stages the butterflies go through.

All involved enjoyed getting an up-close look at these beautiful pollinators.

"We're a Monarch weigh station through MonarchWatch.org which is through the University of Kansas. So, we actually raise Monarchs all summer long when they are migrating and right now, they are migrating from Canada to Mexico," said Amber Wellington, spokesperson from Goodell Gardens.

The event also featured live music from Erie's own "Flora". All money raised benefits Goodell Gardens and their programs.
