Edinboro Highland Games Takes over Campus

Edinboro is looking a bit more Scottish than normal this weekend.

The Highland Games took over the campus as bands, bagpipes, and athletes turned out for traditional Scottish competitions and performances.

Today's exhibitions included Celtic dancers, bagpipe, harp, fiddle and drum competitions. There were also many vendors and for the first time, guests could enjoy some beer.

Organizers say gathering together and celebrating the heritage are the roots behind this event.

"It's right along with the heritage of the university and the borough of Edinboro being founded by Scottish people and it's got a lot of different heritage so far as the events that we have," said Tim Thompson, festival director.

The weekend of festivities closes out tomorrow morning with a concert at the Edinboro United Methodist Church. That's at 10:45 a.m. and is featuring the Chelsea House Orchestra.
