Elks Club honors veterans

The Elks Lodge in Millcreek Township celebrates veterans in a special way ahead of Veteran's Day.  Dozens of veterans from Brevillier Village, the Soldiers and Sailors Home, and others are honored.  They played BINGO, where everyone was a winner.

Representative Ryan Bizzarro also pinning Vietnam War Veterans who are members of the Elks Club in a special ceremony.  Veterans from all wars and battles took part in the event including a 96-year-old War War II B-17 Bomber Pilot, Bud Mills, who was shot down and a prisoner of war.  "It's nice being here with the people," he said.

Bizzarro says, "We don't do enough for our veterans or about our active military members. I think really as a nation and as Pennsylvania, we need to examine how we're treating them."

Senator Dan Laughlin commented, saying, "It really makes me proud to be an American and to hang out with the veterans today.  My father was a WWII veteran and this, in a small way, allows me to honor him, too".

Both Bizzarro and Laughlin tell us there are bills in the works in Harrisburg to address needs and issues surrounding veterans issues.
