Erie Insurance/Habitat for Humanity team up

Working together, they will present a local family with a brand new home!

A brand new home for a family in need in the community is nearing completion.

The Life Insurance Division of Erie Insurance called, 'Erie Family Life,' put nearly 40 of their employees to work over the last three weeks.  Under the direction of Habitat for Humanity, the group built the new home on East 5th Street from the ground, up.

The company raised nearly $80,000 for the tools and artisan fees through a variety of fundraisers, like a "Jeans Month" at work.

Lou Colaizzo, Senior VP of Erie Family Life, says, "since we are a property insurer, it makes sense for us to build a home. Our employees have an opportunity to see the construction of something that we insure on a daily basis."

The house will be complete and ready for move-in by Saturday.  The family moving in has not been identified yet.
