Erie man puts out fire at nearby home

Fire breaks out in an Erie home, sending emergency crews from around the city rushing into action.  The fire was reported at 11:45 last night in the 700 block of East 8th Street.

Fire crews were met with light smoke coming from the home when they arrived.  According to reports from the scene, bystanders helped to put out a fire that started on a couch.  One of those people, Larry Simmons Jr., tells us, "coming to the house, the house was on fire, and then, me and my brother saw it and put it out... a lady was inside the building, and she just ran out... it was just that quick."

The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
