Erie native runs Great Wall of China Marathon for charity

She donated all of the money raised to the Make-a-Wish Foundation

ERIE, Pa - Through valleys, villages, and on the iconic Great Wall of China...an Erie native heads overseas to run one of the world's most challenging marathons.

An athlete her whole life, Sara Gott's goal is to run a marathon on every continent, and raise money for a charity each time.

Last week, she ran the Great Wall Marathon in China, which brings 2,500 runners from more than 60 nations together.

Through Make-a-Wish, Sara was able to fund a trip to Disney World for a 10-year-old little girl from Harborcreek who has a mitochondrial disease.

"It's definitely a life accomplishment, but I'm just happy to give back to my community."

Sara says the most challenging part was the nearly 5,200 steps she had to run, but she's already looking forward to her next marathon adventure.
