ERIE, Pa. -- A man taken was taken into custody after holding two people at gunpoint on the city's west side early Monday morning.
Erie police arrested Shavez Jones, 29, after he attempted to shoot two people in an apartment at 1103 Cascade St., around 3 a.m.
Police said a man and a woman were not injured after Jones tried to shoot both of them. Jones allegedly attempted to fire a gun at the man, but the gun did not fire. The man was able to break free from the apartment where he called police from a nearby residence.
Police said the woman was still inside the apartment when police surrounded the residence and heard a gunshot go off. Jones allegedly fired at the woman but missed, leading him to throw the gun out the window.
Police were able to talk Jones out of the apartment after an hourlong standoff before taking him into custody.
Police do not yet have an idea of what led to this incident.
