The Erie City School District is taking steps towards improvement as well as financial recovery.
In a special session this evening, the school board approved the appointment of a strategic plan consultant, Performance Fact, via a unanimous vote. The firm will develop a plan for improving education, holding meetings with teachers and students, as well as administering surveys and holding public forums. Superintendent Brian Polito says that performance fact has a good track record with school districts similar to Erie.
"The idea is to take a step back and look at where we are educationally and where we want to be in five years and really put together a list of priorities that we can build into our financial recovery plan," said superintendent Brian Polito.
The new plan is scheduled to be completely outlined by May before the 2018-2019 budget.
