The Erie VA Medical Center invited veterans and their families for an open dialogue, hosting a town hall meeting today.
The director announced a new health program along with a new residential rehab program for homelessness and substance abuse. Coordinators say it's all about transparency and making people feel a part of a community. Erie VA Director, John Gennaro, says, "We'll give a review on the projects going on in the facility, update on clinical operations, [hold] presentations from suicide prevention coordinators and, most importantly, be here to standby and answer any questions that veterans and or their families have."
The VA holds town halls on a quarterly basis.
