Erie woman wakes to fire in her home

It was a rude awakening for one West Erie woman just before eight this morning.  Kathleen Ciesielski says she was sleeping in a bedroom in the back of her house in the 1300 block of West 42nd Street when she heard the smoke alarm go off in her basement.

She says she was met with a wall of smoke outside her room and had to escape out the back.  Ciesielski tells us, "I came outside and it was coming out of my windows, upstairs on the sides, the door, and the whole basement has smoke damage all the way up to the ceiling".

Firefighters on the scene say the fire was contained to the basement and appears electrical in nature.
