A smoky fire damages an Erie home, but the damage could have been much worse. Firefighters were called to 2934 Cochran Street just after 7pm. When they arrived, neighbors indicated there may be someone trapped, but the owner was outside and a search determined there were no other people in the house.
Firefighters did rescue two family pets, a cat and a dog. A fire investigator was called to the scene to look for the cause. There is smoke damage throughout the house, but the fire was contained to the first floor.
Acting Deputy Chief Fred Gillespie says, "The crews did an excellent job. They got to the scene right away. It's a narrow street. The companies came around to the best access to get hydrants opened up. Crews did a good job of knocking down the fire very quickly."
The stock market has felt like a roller coaster at times this year.
