Fire crews battle west Erie blaze

ERIE, Pa. -- A house fire had crews battling smoke and flames in the city of Erie overnight.

Firefighters were called to the 1100 block of West 24th Street around 3 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found fire coming from the home. The fire reportedly started in first-floor kitchen and spread to the second floor.

That fire was put out in about 15 minutes.

No injuries are reported.

Firefighters did pull cats from the home. Around five cats died in the fire. 

A fire inspector was called to the scene to look for a cause.
