Five directors named for Erie community schools program

A team of directors is now in place as the Erie School District moves forward with its community schools program.

The directors will work closely with school principals to help students with clothing, counseling and after-school programs. The directors will allow school principals to focus more on the curriculum.

"I grew up here and I know what Erie has to offer,” Wayne Middle School director Jamilia Gates said. “I know it was offered to me as a student in the school district and I know what opportunities they can bring you.”

Gates, along with Tami Krzeszewski-Conway, Katrina Byrd, Sonia Rios and Meghan Easter are expected to be in place by Feb. 1.

Krzeszewski-Conway will be the director of Edison Elementary while Byrd will lead Emerson-Gridley. Rios was selected for Pfeiffer-Burleigh and Rios was tapped for McKinle Elementary.
