17 dead in mass Florida high school shooting

A mass-shooting in Florida results in at least 17 dead and many injured, but police believe they know who the gunman is and have described him as a student and member of the JROTC Program.

The shooting began around 2pm at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.  The school is nearly 30 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale according to the Coral Springs Police Department.

The Broward Sheriff says the shooting suspect is in custody, but no name has been released yet.  A student spoke about the shooter at the scene, saying,  "Honestly, all people were saying that it was going to be him so that we actually construe something like that saying that he wasn't going to be the one to screw up the school. But it turns out, you know, everyone predicted it. That's crazy."

The Broward Sheriff said the shooting suspect is in custody, but no name has been released yet.
