Girl injured by tree branch

Injury described as "serious"

A young girl is rushed to the hospital after being struck by a tree branch in Millcreek Township.

Emergency crews were sent to the 2600 block of Caughey Road around 6:20 Saturday evening.

According to West Ridge Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Rosenbaum, the victim was playing in a backyard when she was hit by a branch that snapped.

Rosenbaum says the branch had a swing attached to it.

Erie County 911 says the girl is believed to be 9 years old.

She was taken to UPMC Hamot with what is described as a serious injury. 

Millcreek Paramedic Service was assisted at the scene by West Ridge Fire Department.
