Pennsylvania lawmakers say they are ready to take advantage of a US Supreme Court ruling that will allow for expanded sports gaming in states like Pennsylvania.
That ruling strikes down a federal ban in place since 1992 that restricts sports betting for most states. Supporters say the ruling will allow states to collect more tax revenues from gaming and will eliminate the need for most illegal gambling operations.
Harkins says, "The groundwork's in place but we just have to figure out some of the kinds and move forward with it from there".
Pennsylvania lawmakers are looking to work quickly to take advantage. Harkins believes the state could roll out sports betting in major casinos in time for the start of NFL football this fall.
